• The Dell Aero, formerly called the Dell Mini 3smartphone, will be the first Dell Android-powered smartphone to be sold in the United States (US).The phone has been sold in limited release in China and Brazil since the second half of 2009.When the Dell Aero reaches the US market sometime in mid-2010 it is likely to be one of the lightest smartphones. 

  
  

  Availability in the United States was announced during the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. The phone will be "soon" available through AT&T on their 3G network in the US.They "may" and "could" sell unlocked Dell Aero (Mini 3) through AT&T if they choose to do so.A release date has still not been issued (nor final specifications) but rumored to be in June.

  
  The smartphone comes with the usual 3.5 inch touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera, and GPS.

  
  Prospective buyers should check which applications will run on the phone because AT&T chooses different applications and customizes the device so the standard Google array may not be present.

• Features and Functions

  The screen is a capacitive color TFT 3.5 inch touchscreen with 360 X 460 pixel resolution. Sasha Cohen ofPC Magazine got a quick look at the user interface during the 2010 CES and felt it was highly customized and not the standard Android user interface.

   

  
  The phone connects via GSM Quad-band for global roaming and UMTS tri-band for global 3G.There is WiFi, Bluetooth, and miniUSB connectivity. In addition, the camera is equipped with a 3 Megapixel camera and flash along with GPS. 

  Standard phone applications are included with email (IMAP/POP3/SMTP/Microsoft Exchange) and a world clock. The Mini 3 will support Exchange ActiveSyncand also synchronize media with Windows Media Player.Dell received FCC certification in early May.

  
  The initial phones will run Android 1.5 or 1.6 and by the end of the year upgraded to Android 2.x.Software for Dell Android smartphones is made by Borqs and called theOPhone OS.

  
  The Lithium-Ion battery is expected to have 5 hours of talk time and 400 hours on standby.
